Smith (Samuel B.) & Goodrich (Chauncey), Bristol, Conn. miniature empire shelf clock with a spring driven, 8 day fusee timepiece movement in a rosewood veneered case. -
England, signed Smith, Clerkenwell, c1890 chain fusee pub movement, now in a modern skeletonized frame representing Brighton Pavilion, the frame appearing to have been cut on an EDM wire machine, and then polished by hand. The silvered dial is nicely fretted and the Roman Numerals are sharply engraved and black filled. The frame surmounted by a bell that is struck once on the passing of each hour. Covered by a round glass dome and mounted on a turned walnut base. -

Bert Francis Wood, Winchester, NH, 8-day, time and bell strike, wooden movement tall clock, No. 16. History: a contemporary of Charles Alvah Smith (Vt), Wood lived in Winchester, NH. He made around 40 clocks in his lifetime, including 12 tall clocks and 28 banjo clocks, one of which can be seen in the Winchester, NH Historical Society Museum. A cousin to our tall clock was made especially for the Town of Winchester, and still stands there in the town library. C.1930. -
