Popon, Paris, France, rare annular mystery clock, in a gilt bronze case, the molded base with Adamesque style scrolled vines with bellflowers, the sides with patinated plaques depicting children at play, the other with figures and a musician in a wooded landscape, the plaques set into panels with engraved foliage, corners with standing female figures carrying urns on their heads, below a platform with compote having scrolled handles and leaves and central mask, containing a rotating bowl set with Roman numeral enamel plaques indicating the hours, the minutes shown on the white enamel Arabic numeral dial in the case front signed "Popon a Paris", beaded hinged bezel, single blued steel Breguet style hand, and signed 8 days, time and count wheel strike pendule a Paris movement, sounding on a bell, with beveled gearing connecting the hour wheel to a cradle with the rotating bowl above, c1870 -
