Description
Condition: overall very nice condition. Although the paper dial was replaced long ago with a Swigart printed dial (circled S on dial), this case retains its original paint, with some chips and flaking and corner wear. Eyes are original. Glass over dial replaced, and tabs soldered on in lieu of plaster. Hands were replaced long ago, look OK. Base of clock with imprint: T. Kennedy, Pat applied for, 1856. Some books call this the Squire model. The early base was scalloped (see Distin and Bishop, page 201), while later models had the flat molded base like this (see Bourne's catalog dated June 19, 1987). See also lot 409. Height 16 inches
