George Marsh, Bristol, Conn., 8 day, time and strike weight strap brass movement hollow column empire shelf clock, c1831 This very rare clock houses an Ives designed movement and was most likely made at the Birge shop and sold by Marsh as the label states it was made for George Marsh. A similar example can be found in "The Contributions of Joseph Ives to Connecticut Clock Technology 1810-1862" by Kenneth D. Roberts, 2nd ed. pg. 107. -

The movement is housed in a rosewood veneer case with faux rosewood graining around top and a reverse painted lower tablet. The painted metal dial is marked "GALES PATENT Feb. 14th, 1871", c1871. -
