Description

The case wood looks like cherry and the mirror frame looks to be the same. The mirror is mounted to the case with thick iron hinges; black and gold frame restored. The upper glass is old and period to the case, the mirror, though period, looks to be replaced. The heavy iron dial is original to the case but someone has filled in the white area and obliterated the chapter ring; also some touch up to the numerals. The door latch is properly handmade. The period movement is original to the case and has rectangular plates, with the addition of an alarm, but the only thing left of the alarm is the winding arbor. There is a cutout in the top of the case that was to clear a large alarm bell, and now a dust strip has been nailed across the case to keep dirt out of the movement. Has potential for the clockmaker who can restore the alarm. Height 29.50Ó $1,000-$1,500
