Description

This is a beautiful example of the Louis XVI high style tall clocks produced in the 18th century. The clock has a red tortoise shell case with ormolu mountings; there is a very small shell repair on the top right of the front panel (looks ok). The porcelain dial shows the city Paris, and a dealer name that is mostly rubbed off. The finely made hands are original. The door and lower front glass are perfect. The little figural pendulum of a cherub playing a small stringed instrument is quite nice. Also note winged cherub at top of case and tiny ball feet at base. Very elegant. Height 17.75Ó $1,750-$2,250
