Description
This late 19th century clock is made to resemble the earliest French bracket clocks, and is very similar to clocks pictured in Tardy's, La Pendule Franciase, Part I, covering the period 1643-1700. The bonnet, main case and bracket are 3 separate parts, each inlaid with silvered brass, yellow brass, and accented with ormolu trim. The mount below the dial is of Aurora driving a wagon with a team of 4 horses, assisted by a lion in the front. Some nicks and scrapes to case, but this is a very well executed example, movement is clean. Impressive Height 33"
