Description

The workman used a factory weight driven regulator movement, either S.B.Terry or Seth Thomas, and cut out the rectangular plates to simulate the look of a New England movement. The case itself is crude, with a hinged door in the lower plinth, and the generous use of stain to give the look of age. The kidney shaped iron dial is spuriously signed, and with a seconds bit (allowing for the movement used). The consignor paid a lot of money for this fake, which has a primitive look; height 42.5'
