A romantic couple are seated in a swing, appearing to suspend by rope, The original marble base with a brass title plaque: "Idylle Printaniere, par Geo Maxim", the couple swinging from side to side without apparent impulse, c1890 -

European version of the "flying pendulum" clock. This is an interesting clock, in that an odd movement has been converted to power a center shaft which flails the flying pendulum from post to post, while the time portion of the movement is regulated by a short pivoted pendulum with adjustable bob. -
