Switzerland, Neuchatel bracket clock with original shelf, ebonized case with en grisaille ornament depicting roses and forget-me-nots, gilt, cast brass door with decoration resembling engine turning, gilt feet and trim and with gilt finial, deeply molded shelf with gilt trim and finial, and featuring a classical urn with flowers and gilt decoration, Roman numeral white enamel dial, with Arabic outer 5 minute markers, blued steel hands with gilt ornaments, 8 days, time and quarter strike movement with pin wheel escapement, probably grand sonnerie, on gongs, and with alarm function, alarm bell located on top of the case, c1810 -

France, large crystal regulator with porcelain panels, gilt case with ogee molded base and top, the front and back with beveled glasses, the rear glass frosted, Arabic numeral dial painted on porcelain panel with genre scene below, showing an interior with a woman pouring wine for a colorfully dressed, seated man, marked "Theo. B. Starr New York" at 6:00, polished brass hands, the panels on the left and right side similarly decorated, and featuring colorfully dressed men enjoying wine, the right panel signed at lower right "DEVALER", 8 day time and strike pendule a Paris movement, striking on a gong, movement numbered 12979, the backs of the porcelain panels bearing that number as well, c1890 -
European version of the "flying pendulum" clock. This is an interesting clock, in that an odd movement has been converted to power a center shaft which flails the flying pendulum from post to post, while the time portion of the movement is regulated by a short pivoted pendulum with adjustable bob. -
