Planchon, a Paris, turtle mystery clock of small size, the molded hexagonal, gilt bronze base with decorative engraving resting on recumbent lion form feet, supporting a pewter basin with Roman numeral chapter engraved around rim, the turtle floating in the basin and indicating the time, given motion by a magnet driven by the 8 day timepiece movement with lever platform, concealed in the base. Case bears the initials E. M., probably for Etienne Maxant, manufacturer of high quality bronze clocks, often copying earlier styles, c1890
