Description

movement good overall, with repairs consistent with age, ticks and strikes, escapement with excessive drop. Early style count wheel outside back plate. Bell with countersunk mounting hole. Hour and minute hands of appropriate style, seconds hand replaced, dial good, seat board with risers. Case has some repairs to veneers and marquetry, feet and top board of bonnet replaced. Lenticle glass replaced. Hood was originally rising, now sliding (many rising hoods were converted to forward sliding hoods in the early 18th century): Pendulum has repair to rod. The weights, key, and pulleys are the correct type and may be original to the movement. Overall a stunningly handsome clock by one of the world's most famous clockmakers.
