Description

The case has been refinished and has minor veneer loss on both the left and right sides of the case. Both bezels were originally grain painted, but that was lost and the bezels have now been refinished to a dark cherry color. The two paper dials are original and in very good condition. The minute hand is original. The hour hand has age but may be replaced. The movement carries the patent date of November 28, 1865, the day that Laporte Hubbell was granted the patent for the 8 day double wind timepiece movement. Both door glasses are original. The interior Carter label is in excellent condition as is the B. B.Lewis label on the calendar mechanism. An identical example is in the collection of the American Clock & Watch Museum, Bristol, CT.
