Description

Stained pine case and mirror has a strip of hardboard added to reinforce the base. The gilt areas on the mirror frame now have gold paint. Dial glass and mirror are later replacements. The movement and dial are original to each other, but we feel the movement and dial did not start life in this case as there are inpainted areas on the dial that do not match the current method of attachment. A picture of an Emerson movement and dial can be found in "Clockmakers & Clockmaking in Maine 1770-1900" by Joseph Katra, page 132.
