Description
The old label is almost all still intact, but is very dark and legible only in good light. The label indicates it was made in Thomaston, Conn. We have sold a great many of this early weight clock, and they came in a multitude of configurations. This one is different from any. The top cornice and bottom board have been painted with a nice brown that matches almost perfectly the veneered sides and sleigh front. The columns and doors have been painted gold, and a decal or something has been added to the middle glass. All three glasses are old but no way to know if original to the clock. Good lyre brass movement, coil gong, brass bob, winding crank, and a pair of period iron weights. Original zinc dial, numerals have been enhanced, darkened over time and there are several tiny paint chips. It is not a bad looking clock if you like the new gold paint. I can live with the other improvements. Ly-Seth Thomas, pages 512-516.
