Description
Pine and mahogany stains are about the same. These early shelf clocks usually had a wood dial, decorated tablets, and for a few years used the Silas B. Terry ladder movement. Terry went bankrupt in 1859 and for 3 years worked for Gilbert as General Manager. This ladder movement is a one day, time only. The ones I have seen over the years did not have a label, but like this little clock, had the accessories I have mentioned. The hands, latch, and movement supports, are all correct.
