Description
This 30 hr OG case came from the company's stock, then fitted with their signed 8 day time and strike, spring movement that controls the simple calendar attached to the lower dial. It strikes a coil gong between the two dials. I have sold a half dozen or so of this model over the years and went along with everyone else questioning who made the clock. THIS case has a label in the bottom that says, "Manufactured / New Haven Clock Company / New Haven, Conn. U.S.A. / Thirty Hour". There are strips on top of the case covering the holes where weight pulleys would go. The 26" high case is identical to the NH 30 hour OG clocks they sold in the 1880's. It was a simple matter to add the lower dial and calendar. In the center circle of both dials it says, "Manufactured For National Calendar Clock Co." During this period NH was on the brink of bankruptcy and trying many ways to turn a profit. NH was having trouble marketing their clocks so they tried a new name. Like the car companies, wouldn't you say? This is a clean, polished, rubbed out, rosewood veneer case. Note the zebra wood interior dial board. The movement is running robustly.
