Description

the throat molding just below the hood has been replaced [well done], and the case refinished. There is a note inside the case that reads "case made by Ephraim Tibbets of Barnstead, NH" Tibbets died in 1840. The dial paint is in excellent original condition, and the pheasant in the arch is well detailed. There is a simple calendar in an arched aperture below center. Mov't is complete and sound, pulleys and winder intact; has not been cleaned in many years, English false plate with the name "Wilson". Note the 3 finials are mid 20C replacements; see nice hand made "fan" style rosettes on scrolls. Door lock replaced. Retains nice period 'tin can" weights. Ht 90"
