Description
according to the official Chelsea ledger, this clock case (No. 66003) was originally sold on August 4, 1910 to W.W. Wattles and Sons as a Special Dial Old Brass Hinge with a Ships Bell movement. An entry indicates it was also repaired in 1929. The movement number is now No. 70525 and the ledger indicates this as a ship's bell unit sold on November 25, 1910 to Black, Starr and Frost in an 8.5" red brass hinge with base. This clock has been professionally polished and lacquered, dial done by the Dial House, new felt on base. About as good as it gets for condition, both mov't and case made in 1910. If the serial numbers matched, we would have expected this to fetch $12000; our estimate tries to reflect current state. With older style Chelsea key. Diameter of case = 12", ht on stand = 17.5"
