Description

gold front case of mahogany that appears to have been painted over long ago. There is a little damage on the right side bottom box. Period painted iron dial with a signature of "Simon Willard", sig been there for maybe 100 years and touched up (Willard did not normally sign his dials). Dial is held in the case with two turn pins. The gilding on the doors, finial and bracket is now gold painted. Throat glass appears to be original, but has restoration and is broken. Bottom glass with some restoration, appears to be original. Hands are period. Heavy side arms are not original to this case. Orig. movement is attached to the case with a rear center screw, has fancy click. Height 40.5 inches
