Description
Condition: except for 2 new wooden tabs to hold the movement, overall excellent original condition, with bright label, good paint on dial, original carved side arms and original finish (nicely waxed to a sheen). Full information on the Maranville 1861 patent and Gilbert's use of same can be found in Tran Ly's book titled Calendar Clocks, pages 78-84, with this model shown on page 83 (absent its side arms). The sidearms are shown in Millers calendar book, page 132. Someone placed a coil spring on the calendar wheel roller that can be easily removed, however it is effective and does no harm.
