with poplar secondary wood. Hood has a broken-arch pediment, central finial, 4 turned columns, oval sidelights, and a tombstone door. Case has a thumb-moulded door with a cut-corner top, paneled sides, and a paneled base with a scroll-cut skirt and turned feet. Cross-banded veneer decorates the case below the hood, at the mid-moulding, and above the skirt. The German Black Forest movement appears original, and has a polychrome-painted dial with flowers in the spandrels and the dial arch. A movement backplate has a variety of early writing on it, including the date 1829. Appears to retain its original finial and glass, and has a wonderful, old finish with rich color. American, found in New York, ca 1815-1830; 95" high x 21" wide x 11.75" deep. Condition report Only a few minor repairs, brass escutcheon appears to be a period replacement, we do not guarantee the working order of clocks; VG.
