Description

ca 1810, painted arched top steel dial with radial Arabic numerals and 5, ten minute ticks between hours, with secondary seconds dial above center with tumbling Arabic numerals, blank calendar cut-out dial below center, original cast hands, winding squares just below and flanking center of dial. The spandrels decorated with painted shells with leaf and scroll work surround and basket of flowers in arched top. Steel movement plate is stamped on reverse Osborne with eight-day brass time and strike bell strike weight-driven movement on period pine seat board. Includes original cast iron pendulum with inset brass rosette center, and period American tin can weights. Case is American birch with a mahogany overlapping door with thumb-moulded edge and period brass keyhole escutcheon, white pine secondary wood. The bonnet is cove-moulded and flat top with full turned columns and gilt Doric capitals, arched topped door hinged at right with replaced brass mushroom knob. Base with cove moulding at top and cut-out Hepplewhite feet, all in original cleaned mahogany varnish finish. Clock includes winding key. Condition report As above, slight fading to dial numerals, slight chip on capitals, currently running intermittently (needs cleaning). We do not guarantee working order of clocks.
