Description
Condition: overall good condition with some restorations. The mahogany case has been nicely refinished; lower tablet is original with flaking, mirror is old, probably replaced (backing is original). Original dial is good with some horizontal losses; hands are correct. Old weights, one original, second works OK. Mov't original to case. This unique roller pinion movement was designed by Joseph Ives; see Ken Roberts book on Ives, pages 68-9. Note the little quarter trims on either side of the scroll are absent (as on the examples in Ken's book) Brass finials are modern. Door escutcheon intact; lock missing. Height 37 inches [94cm]
