Description
Condition: the mahogany and pine case has been nicely refinished. Large iron dial retains original white surface, however numerals have been re-painted. No evidence of signature. The movement has been cleaned and re-strung; the original screws that hold the bridge have both lost parts of their head. There has always been a thin wooden shim behind the well made movement. Hands, weight and pendulum are original. Martin Cheney moved from Windsor, Vt to Montreal in 1809 and worked there for 20 years. Although larger than we normally find, this case has many of the attributes of Cheney's smaller tavern clocks. Width = 20", Height 33 inches [84cm]
