Description
Condition: Very good as-found condition; this clock has been in storage for the last 25 years, and the rear snails that raise the arms to indicate the time have a light coat of rust, and the entire movement will need cleaning before operation; we took the cob webs out before the foto. The porcelain hour scale has cracks at 2, 5 and 11 o'clock. Still, this is the way most serious collectors would like to find a rare clock, and this one is sure to command their attention. For reference see Sothebys Meraux sale, June 29, 1993, lot 81, where the cousin to this clock sold for $12,075; also see Derek Roberts' book, titled: Mystery, Novelty and Fantasy Clocks , page 93, figure 8-19 Ht 18.1" [46cm]
