Description
The Pennsylvania (Allentown) case originally had a different movement, now with a robust C.1840 American brass 8-day smooth barrel movement and later Waterbury hands. The period wooden dial is from a 30-hour wood movement, and has been nicely repainted. Outboard chimneys for hood are absent; pineapple finial not original. There are some nicks in the case, piece of right arch is missing. Base molding is incorrect. The back plate of the movement has 4 holes as evidence it was mounted via blocks in a different case. Still it runs and is a lot of "Look" for the money. With ram's horn style scrolls. Soft wood case has an old red paint finish. Runs. Ht 92" [234cm]
