Description

Condition: overall excellent, the quarter sawn oak case with applied burl accents has been refinished to a light honey color, some minor nicks and scrapes, and some diamond trim slightly mis-aligned. The multi-piece top has been reinforced from the rear to make it a bit stronger. The well made pinwheel movement is complete and sound, except needs a suspension spring. Porcelain dial is perfect and hour and minute hand are original; seconds hand a proper replacement. Good gridiron pendulum is original to the clock. In 1910, this clock retailed for $100, while a Durham hanging kitchen was $4.25. For reference, see Tran Ly's book on Gilbert Clocks [1998], page 135, figure 354. Glass is original. Ht 92"
