Description

Condition: this clock came from a home in Hoosick Falls, NY, where it has been in the same family for a long time. There are some loose moldings, and small inlay chips here and there, but minor attention will correct this. Has fluted columns on the hood with brass capitals and bases and quarter fluted columns on the trunk with wooden capitals and bases. Inlaid ovals in the door and base, and inlaid whirlies at the rosette location. Corners with shell inlay and a central egg shaped shell inlay. The case with bracket feet. Brass finials are 20th century. The two bottom dial feet have broken out and been lost, and now the dial is screwed to the seat board. Mov't is rack and snail American made (not English). Dial will need restoration. Has nice early hands, but lacks calendar hand; old glass is missing a chunk near the arch. A good looking and exciting piece of Americana that will fit in most US homes. Height 88 inches
