Description

Condition: has been setting on a shelf for 20 years and has dust and grime; around 60% of the gilding is intact, and if you immerse the case in clock cleaner (don't rub) it will brighten up nicely. See this clock in FRENCH BRONZE CLOCKS, (Schiffer, 1999), page 92, where E. Niehuser writes: "The pendulum bronze has a strict symmetric composition after a design by Jean-Andre Reiche, whose original design, dated 1809, has survived (Bibliotheqye Naionale, Cabinet d'Estampes Le 30, 18). The base relief again refers to the subject of studying: a genius and an oil lamp ar eshown within a laurel wreath" This is one of several clocks in this sale that are explained by Niehuser. Dial signed Fort a' Paris .Ht 15"
