Description
Condition: there is a veneer chip by the keyhole escutcheon, and the tablet is properly replaced. The hands are modern, but proper style lead hands. The finials are original (one large center and 2 smaller side finials). The original dial is outstanding, with only a couple of minute markers worn. Label has some stains, but is still excellent+. The original finish on the case was rubbed down around 1957 when it was given to Old Sturbridge Village, and since has acquired nice crazing and patina; tiny tips on the skirt are missing. Original wood strap movement is intact, except that the fly has been replaced. Original lead weights and pulleys are xlnt. A good clock with good provenance. Except for the repainted tablet, this is as good and complete an off center as you are likely to find. Height 30 inches
