Description

Condition: the clock is running fine and the ads rotate constantly. Near as we can tell Mr. de Wandelaer was jealous of his neighboring jeweler with perhaps a Sidney advertiser, so decided to make his own. He used good pressed oak molding available at the time, and the quality of his work is very good. Interestingly he needed a contrate wheel to turn the power 90 degrees, and made his own by soldering 30 small nails into a circular brass piece and then filing the ends to a proper bevel. Most of the ads in the two carriages are original, touting various ales, livery and coal. Bill sold this in the 1970s, and took it back in last year for $5,000. Height 53 inches
