Description

Condition: this clock was nicely restored around 1970, the fine mahogany case refinished at that time, with a hand rubbed French polish. The well made London movement is heavy and robust, and loudly proclaims the quarter hours in your choice of Westminster on 4-gongs or Whittington on 8 bells, and striking the hours on a 5th deep toned gong. The knurled thumb screw for tying down the pendulum is intact. Pendulum and all case hardware, including door locks are original. Note full round columns with ormolu capitals and bases. There has been some loss to the silvering on the engraved brass dial, owing to polishing by the maid. Gilt brass Roman numerals are intact. Impressive looking and sounding. Height 26.5 inches
