Description
This is one of the set of 6 "Commeratives" Welch made to commemorate the Spanis Height American War and its heroes. They were made only a short time and that is why they are not too common. The other five models are; Lee, The Maine, Sampson, Schley, and Wheeler. All were pressed oak, 24 inches high, 8 day half hour strike on wire or Cathedral Bell, and made with or without an alarm. If you follow my auctions, you will remember I sold a set of six in 1997 for over $4000. This is an excellent example, nice original dark oak finish, signed 8 day movement, original "Olympia" glass decal, signed paper dial, original pendulum and bob, and a fair but legible label. Ly-Welch No. 471.
