Description
Nothing in the Ansonia catalogs or any other makers catalogs is anywhere as nice, or as large, as this beautiful clock. At 19 inches wide, 16.5 inches high, it is larger than any other Ansonia marbles pictured. It is perfect except for a leaf to the left of the dial that was snagged on something and broken off, now glued back. Rich bronze ornaments, finials, columns, capitals and bases on the four white onyx columns, and the very unusual dial, sash, and open escapement mechanism. Instead of the usual open escapement this one has a couple of mythical winged creatures. The frieze on top portrays a couple of Roman soldiers reclining. 8 day movement, outside count, striking a standing gong on half hours. This is a keeper.
