Description
Completely restored mahogany veneer case, small veneer repairs made, almost invisible. Carved splat, capitals, and paw feet. One toe nail is chipped. The inside of the case couldn't be any cleaner. Full label, new wire strung, compounded on top. Wood movement is clean as new and functioning properly. Two good escutscheons and working key locks. Glasses are both replaced with excellent workmanship. Wood dial is near perfect considering it is 165 years old. The wood movement is Seth Thomas type 1.21, of which they only produced a few. The dial and escape wheel are shown to have a seconds hand, my research doesn't show ST 8 day movements with seconds, only the Eli Terry Type 1.22 had seconds. Read "Eli Terry and the Connecticut Shelf Clock", Second Edition Revised, by Kenneth D. Roberts and Snowden Taylor, pages 247- 250, and 311-314.
