Description

A really fine mahogany case with string inlay around the dial, ruffles and flourishes on top, brass handle and feet. The case is 14 inches tall, clean and shining, has a large back door to access the big solid plate, 8-day movement, signed by the maker. On each hour and half hour it strikes a large standing cathedral gong. Brass sash fitted with a bowed and beveled glass over the 7 inches porcelain dial. Not shown in my Gilbert catalogs, but should be, it is one of the nicer clocks Gilbert made.
