Description
The scene on the reverse-painted lower door glass suggests buildings on the old Dartmouth College campus in New Hampshire (see photograph). A copy of an old print showing the Dartmouth campus in the 1830's will accompany this clock. Although there is considerable flaking on the glass paint, the Dartmouth buildings can be recognized. The lower half of the maker's label is missing(see photograph),which makes it difficult to establish who the clockmaker was. The tips of the scrolls are unbroken and the finish on the case is excellent. It runs properly and strikes the hours on a clear bell. For Dartmouth graduates or knowledgeable clock collectors, this is a wonderful prize. Priced low for immediate sale potential. Height: 31 in. (78.74 cm) Depth: 5 in. (12.70 cm) Width: 17 in. (43.18 cm) Weight: 12
