Miniature 8 day Ansonia Brass and Copper Co. Mahogany Case. Pristine condition. CIRCA: 1860 SIZE: 18 1/2" x 11 3/4" x 4" MAKER: Ansonia Brass and Copper Co. Ansonia CT DESCRIPTION: 100% original with no alterations or changes. The original enamelled dial is untouched. Original label and signed movement is original to the case. Both glasses are original as are the hands and pendulum. The movement has been professionally rebuilt, it is a week duration with an hour chime which is very deep and mellow. There is no damage or repair to the case, mahogany veneer is perfect, reverse painted glass was strengthened, the case was professionally refinished and rubbed out between coats. The Ansonia Brass and Copper Co. was founded by Anson G. Phelps. Major stockholders were Theodore and Samuel Terry and F. C. Andrews. The company was in business from 1854 to 1878. Very few of these early Connecticut shelf clocks have survived 150 years and even less in this condition. The clock can hang on the wall or sit on a shelf.
