Description

Meissen porcelain clock with three cherubs, 8 day. Circa 1840-1859, very desirable Meissen Clock. Height is 24", width at the base 24", depth at the base 6". Please view many additional photos. The French clock-works is unsigned, runs for a week and has hour and half hour strike on the original silver bell. On the backplate are the serial number 7264 and 6-4 which is the pendulum length. The clockworks are pinned and have an outside count wheel. The clock has been professionally restored. The heavy cast, bead head bezel has a convex beveled crystal, and porcelain dial with blue numerals. The dial has no chips or cracks. The rear dust cover is convex glass through which the clockworks can be viewed. The Meissen case is in remarkable condition. The three chubby cheek winged cherubs (putti) are perfect with the exception that the top one has some crazing on its belly and arms. The case has no markings, there is no question in my mind that it is Meissen quality. The clock was just recently restored, operates and keeps good time.
