Description

Seth Thomas miniature rosewood OG clock, shelf or wall clock. Mint 100% original, circa 1870 - 1900. Size: 14 1/2" long, 10 1/2" wide, 4" deep, original 6 3/4" zinc dial. Maker is Seth Thomas, Thomaston Conn. Condition: Mint, 100% original. The 30-hour movement runs for 2 1/2 days. The movement has been professionally rebuilt, all pivots resurfaced and polished, new bronze bushings, verge has been stoned and polished, 2 new main springs. The clock runs accurately and chimes each hour with a deep resonate sound. The rosewood case has its original finish. Both sides and top have original grain paint. This is indicative of the earlier models. The later models had rosewood veneer. There is a perfect label inside of the case. The movement is marked Seth Thomas Plymouth Conn USA. The name Plymouth Hollow was changed to Thomaston Conn in 1865. The original zinc dial was professionally repainted several years ago. Both the top and bottom glass are original. The glasses have the old imperfections. The bottom glass is a wonderful transfer of a small terrier. The black backing was redone due to severe flaking. Beware, this glass has been reproduced. The movement has its original Seth Thomas hands. Beware the hands have also been reproduced. The clock is fitted with a wall hanger so it can be hung on the wall. Originally these clocks were designed to sit on a shelf or mantle. There they were called Connecticut shelf clocks.
