Description

This country case is 95 inches tall, hand painted designs over the outside, flowers and vines painted on the front. 2 side pieces of molding are missing, front piece could serve as your pattern. The 8.5 inch bowed porcelain dial is really out-standing, and marked for a calendar, but the calendar wheels are missing from the movement. It has a very nice pair of brass hands to go with the pressed brass surrounding the dial. The surround depicts a farmer, his wife and children, and a horse and cart. The thin pendulum rod folds in the middle. The movement is 8 day, crown wheel escapement, strikes a bell on the hours, 2 minutes after the hour, and on the half hour. It is enclosed in a metal box with side doors to gain access. This is a pretty good looking clock considering how old it is and the fact they were not made of heavy hardwood like most tall clocks.
