Description
81 inch dark oak case with substantial carving on the front. An unusual feature are the heavy, round, brass hinges that extend full length of the doors. The case has some features of a German clock, yet the front gives the impression it was made especially for a Morbier movement. It does have an 8 day, 2 weight, bell strike, Morbier movement now resting on a new wood shelf, and it is running real strong. The 9 inch bowed porcelain dial has a repair at 2 o'clock. Brass lyre pendulum, 12 inch bob, made especially for this movement or one like it. The weights are not a match but power the movement just fine. This weird movement will run with the pendulum swinging north-south, as well as east-west. The movement is completely enclosed in the typical metal box with side locking doors. .
