Description
The cast lyre movement is stamped, "Made in Germany". The plates are held by nuts rather than pins, and together with the fact that the old wood birds are attached to a metal bracket, not wood, would date the clock at 1900 or a little later. A large case 26 inches high, in the grape and leaf motif and the bird and fox motif. The one day cuckoo is running, doing its thing on the quarter hours and hours, but a little out of beat, and they seem to always need some adjustments after shipping. There are no breaks, or repairs, to any of the carved pieces, very unusual. The hands and numerals are old; whether they are original to the clock I can't be sure, same with the weights and pendulum. As nice as any we have had.
