Description

Wood case, false grained, is 24 inches high, 19 inches wide. All the Mother-of-Pearl is intact. Large porcelain dial, porcelain cartouche numerals held with bronze. The Comtoise 8 day type movement strikes the half hours, the hours and then strikes again a minute after the hour. This large Morbier type movement originally carried a 25 year guarantee by the factory. We know of no other such guarantee by a clock maker. These clocks are pictured in Ehrhardt & Rabe, Book 3, page 89; and Ehrhardt, Foreign Clocks, book 4, Nos. 346 & 347. We only see about one or two of the nice picture frame clocks each year, rarely one this nice.
