Description
This collector must have liked this color of marble, and he liked ST Son's clocks. The color of the marble on this clock is more pronounced and clean. The feet, elaborate dial surround, and ring under the statue, are bronze, other parts are metal. Same on the two sidepieces. The plate on this statue says, "Eglantine, Par Aug. Moreau, Medlle d'Or". Cast into the metal statue are, "France", and "Aug. Moreau". Statue alone is 16 inches high; with base it is 24 inches high. The porcelain dial has the trademark imprinted of Japy Freres, and the movement also has the Freres trademark imprinted. This 8 day, bell strike movement, is like all the others we are encountering in this collection, round, outside count, etc. And like all the others it just keeps on running. Very nice porcelain dial with painted flowers, and marked for hours and minutes. Beveled glass over the dial. I see no fault with the statue or the 14 inches high urn sidepieces. Note the mythical birds on the sides of the urns. Color is outstanding on the urns. This set may well be one of the nicest I have had in a long time.
