Description
Probably from the Black Forest region where every family has an expert wood carver. The carvings feature a large bird assisting a baby bird, large leaves, vines, acorns, and such, all over the case. As will all these old carved pieces, one can usually find some leaf or something broken and repaired, very hard to detect when done well. The dark oak case is 29 inches high, 20 inches wide. It has brass hands, porcelain cartouche numerals, with the makers name on a separate piece of the porcelain cartouche. The pendulum is correct for this type 8 day movement. Striking an iron gong, enclosed spring barrels. Not a museum piece by any stretch, but our minimum reflects any deficiencies.
