Description

Wood is dark which is very typical of this type clock, and difficult to get the right light to photograph well. The case is 82.5 inches high, 26 inches wide at the top, 24 inches wide in the waist. Lots of expert carvings including the top molding, fruit on each side of the dial, large male and female figures, and heavy carved object on the base. Very large bun feet. What catches your attention immediately are the large male and female figures. These carvings like most Black Forest carving, was expertly done. The movement is 8 day, 2 weight, chain pullup. The movement is marked, "58597", and a trademark, "FMS" and an eagle. The clock chimes bimbam on half hour and hours, 5 hammers on 5 rods. The movement is mounted to a seat board that slides into a bracket fastened to the case. We have owned the clock a couple of years, has a prominent place in the game room, and is running briskly. The brass is all clean, brightly polished. The brass dial is 11 inch square with etched numerals painted black, and applied brass decorations in the corners. The dial, weights, and pendulum are all polished and all have applied designs. We have had a few of these over the years, and they are very poplar with some collectors.
