Description
A poplar case style we don't see very often, maybe one a year. Rick Weil, clock dealer from Pennsylavania, usually sells one each year at the Cincinnati Regional, where they will generally sell for 850 dollars to 1250 dollars. This is as nice as any we have seen. The walnut case is near perfect and original, one small piece of molding missing over a side mirror. This is the way this clock came from the "FMS" factory in Germany. Side pieces hook to the clock body, making for easy removal for transportation. There are full columns, many unusual finials and turnings. The top, including the eagle, is all original. The eagle has been repaired in a couple of places. The eagle is signed, "ML", and "No.160". The 8 day movement is signed, "FMS", strikes a coil gong, runs heartily and strikes properly. Dialis an imitation like porcelain, brass insert, brass bob with lyre-grid type rod of brass and steel. Porcelain beat scale.
