Description
Condition: this is a superb 300+ year old movement exhibiting the finest workmanship of the time. All 3 references, Baillie, Brittens and Cecinsky and Webster place John at Oxon as clockmaker prior to 1700, John was JosephÕs brother; John was born 1650 and died 1722. Oxon became known as Oxford not long after this time. Although the hooded wall case is 20th century, it was made in England to high standards and complements the movement very well. Movement is clean and has been running fine here in Salem. Pend with orig wing nut. If in its period case, a clock of this importance would be worth 30,000 dollars. Height of case = 28Ó, overall 50inches
